Season of the Rose 2017

SEASON OF THE ROSE: SUFI SUMMER SCHOOL
“THE SPIRIT OF GUIDANCE” AUDIO & PHOTOS

with Aziza Scott, Khabira Brown, Himayat Inayati,
Netanel Miles-Yépez, & Pir Zia Inayat-Khan

While our staff is quietly working, preparing to launch the new Astana in November, we are also getting caught up on a variety of projects, including follow-up from this year’s Season of the Rose.

This year’s Season of the Rose: The Spirit of Guidance was a beautiful, deep community gathering, and an emotional send-off for Pir Zia and his family, as they began the transition to Richmond the last day of the program.

Over 100 people attended with more than a third under the age of 40, as part of our young adult track. Many people commented that the schedule was gloriously spacious with many choices, from teachings by Pir Zia, Aziza, Himayat, Amina, Khabira, Yaqin, and Kainat, to spontaneous rituals, creative activities, and classes led by participants. See a sampling here:

Wisdom Of The Prophets V – Only A Few Spots Left For Richmond!

Wisdom of the Prophets V – Sufism & Christianity

with Tessa Bielecki, Pastor LuTimothy May, & Pir Zia Inayat-Khan

Richmond, Virginia
November 2-5, 2017

Only a few spots left for Richmond. Register today!

O sweet breeze of Jesus,
I pray that all your days be blessed,
For the heart of Hafiz came alive,
owing to your breath.

— Hafiz

Christianity, according to Hazrat Inayat Khan, is “pure mysticism, a mysticism of love: to judge no one, to forgive everyone… to come to that knowledge which instead of making you clever makes you innocent.” Jesus Christ, he says, “was not only innocent in his thought and word and in his atmosphere, but those inspired by him also reached that stage of innocence which is the sign of the saintly spirit.”

In this fifth installment of the Wisdom of the Prophets series on “Sufism & Christianity,” Tessa Bielecki and Pastor LuTimothy May will join Pir Zia Inayat-Khan to explore the connections between Christian spirituality and the universalist Sufi path of Hazrat Inayat Khan.

During this three-day program, former Carmelite abbess and Christian hermit, Tessa Bielecki will introduce us to the foundations and rhythms of the Christian contemplative life, to celebratory ritual and the joys an “earthy mysticism,” and Pastor LuTimothy May, to the Christian tradition of finding hope and joy through spiritual music and the example of Jesus Christ, all in dialogue with Pir Zia, who will teach from his new book Mingled Waters: Sufism & the Mystical Unity of Religions.

Please click here for details about visiting the Astana and nearby accommodations.

Join us in person in Richmond or online from anywhere for this special event.

Mingled Waters: Sufism and the Mystical Unity of Religions

mingled-smMingled Waters: Sufism and the Mystical Unity of Religions at New York Open Center
May 13, 2017, 2-6pm

In the rivers of all the world’s revealed traditions the same water flows, the water of Divine revelation. In this workshop, Pir Zia will draw from his new book, Mingled Waters: Sufism and the Mystical Unity of Religions, to explore the inner teachings of Hinduism, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam from the perspective of Sufi gnosis. He will explore the wisdom to be found in the Vedantic understanding of food, the Noble Eightfold Path taught by the Buddha, the Zoroastrian vision of the living earth, the Exodus of the Israelites, the gnostic Hymn of the Pearl, and the Five Pillars of Islam. The afternoon will also include guided meditations and practices from each tradition (prayers, meditation and breathing practices).

Note: A booksigning will follow the workshop.

Receive A Free Gift from Pir Zia—A Chapter of His New Book

It’s not too late to receive a free chapter of Pir Zia’s forthcoming book, Mingled Waters: Sufism & the Mystical Unity of Religions (expected from Suluk Press next spring).

Last week we decided to gift a more significant excerpt than originally planned. All who donate toward our Fall Appeal or sign up to tithe by this coming Friday, December 23rd, 2016, will receive their excerpt next weekend.

Some updates from our Fall Appeal so far:

As of this morning, we have raised a total of $179,996, with $134,352 from non-recurring donations, and another $45,644 in pledged annual tithes.

This includes the generous $50,000 match offered by an anonymous donor. Thank you to all who helped us raise the match amount within a little over two weeks.  As a result, $50,000 was donated to the Inayati Order, and another $50,000 to the Abode.

Our Board of Trustees has committed to 100% board giving. All 11 board members have donated toward this year’s appeal. To see the full list of board members, please visit: https://inayatiyya.org/board/.

Our overall goal is $200,000 by Saturday, December 31, 2016. This money goes toward offering programs, training, and support to you and the many people who contact us seeking information and guidance on the teachings of Hazrat Inayat Khan.

See here for programmatic and financial details.

Also, this is a special time for us, in that we are planning to relocate our North American Headquarters to Richmond, Virginia in July of 2017. Your donation will help us with this move, and with our plans for expanded offerings once settled in our new home.

Please let us know if you have questions or need help in making a donation. Molly “Moon” Mooney is on call in our office at 518-794-7834 or via email at [email protected]. You can also visit the Inayati Order Facebook page here.

Wishing you much love and gratitude as we head toward the New Year!
