WISDOM OF THE PROPHETS – PART III: SUFISM & ZOROASTRIANISM

This six-part course offers the opportunity to study and practice the inner teachings of the prophets as enshrined in the wisdom traditions that derive from their revelations. Part Three focuses on the interrelationship between Sufism & Zoroastrianism and features Pir Zia Inayat-Khan, Dr. Jehan Bagli, and Dr. Sousan Abadian.

You may participate in this program in person at the Abode or online, via livestream.

BIOGRAPHIES

DR. JEHAN BAGLI is an ordained Zarathushti priest through Navar and Martab ceremonies. He was a founding member and President of the ZAQ, the editor of Gavashni, a North American Zarathushti publication, for sixteen years from 1974 to 1990.

He has published widely, on various topics, on the religion of Zarathushtra. He is the author/co-author of five books. Religion of Asho Zarathusht and Influence through The Ages (2003), and co-author of Understanding and Practice of Jashan Ceremony (2001), Congregational Prayers (2007). Most recently he has been the author of Zoroastrian Theology and Eschatology as well as the section editor for Zoroastrian Religion for the Encyclopedia of Indian Religions to be published by Springer publications in 2013.

 

sousan_abadian_image-2016DR. SOUSAN ABADIAN is a scholar, speaker and consultant with three advanced degrees from Harvard University, including a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government. In recent years, she served as a Fellow at MIT’s Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values, as well as the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School. Most recently, she was awarded the Franklin Fellowship and is awaiting security clearance to join the Office of International Religious Freedom (Bureau of Democracy & Human Rights), at the U.S. Department of State. Sousan is a specialist in healing collective trauma, a key factor in dealing with ongoing violence and impoverishment worldwide. A Zoroastrian by birth, a Jew by choice, and a Sufi by initiation, Sousan recently relocated from the Boston area to live in Northern Virginia.
